Well...yesterday up at the beautiful Chomondeley Castle I was given a firm reminder of the realities of horses; one minute you're on cloud 9, no less than 5 seconds later you're brought back down to earth...with an almighty bump!
Mickey and I were in the OIu21. We started out with a lovely test of 30.9, much improved again from Barbury so was very happy with that! Then he jumped a foot perfect clear show jumping, around a track causing problems. I couldn't have been more chuffed with him - I think we're starting to get the hang of this coloured poles malarky!
Now...cross country...Mickey jumped the first 17 fences like a machine, he then came to the penultimate combination, an old fashioned rail-coffin-rail, and decided that there was a dragon, and a particularly scary one at that, in the ditch. Not a very impressed jockey, we did still, somehow, manage to finish 6th..with just 3 clears XC in the section.
To say that I was (am!) frustrated would be understatement of the year, but hey ho, another day I suppose...lots of hunting for the naughty pony over the Winter!
